Q: Do I need a primer before applying Caliper Coat?

✅ No. This product is designed for direct-to-metal (DTM) application. It provides strong adhesion and corrosion resistance without primer or adhesion promoter.

Q: How many coats should I apply?

✅ Apply 3 coats – starting with light/medium coats and finishing with a medium/wet coat. Flash time between coats is approximately 5 minutes.

 


 

Before You Begin

🔴 Important Precautions:

  • Always wear a respirator, gloves, and appropriate protective gear.

  • Shake the can vigorously for at least 2 minutes before use.

  • Ideal application temperature: 68°F (20°C) with 35–75% humidity.

  • Apply in a well-ventilated area.

  • If conditions are very dry, lightly mist the air or use a humidifier for best results.

 


 

Application Steps

1. Surface Preparation

  • Clean all surfaces thoroughly with a solvent cleaner.

  • For plastic components, use a waterborne/plastic cleaner.

  • Ensure the surface is free of dirt, grease, or contaminants.

 


 

2. Spray Application Instructions

  • Hold can 8–10 inches from the surface.

  • Apply 3 coats:

    • First coat: light/medium, 5-minute flash.

    • Second coat: medium coat, 5-minute flash.

    • Third coat: medium/wet coat for full coverage.

     

  • For light colors such as yellow or white, apply 2–3 light mist coats first to ensure even color coverage before proceeding with medium coats.

  • No clear coat is required.

  • After spraying, turn the can upside down and press until only clear gas exits to clean the nozzle.

 


 

3. Drying and Curing

  • Out of dust: ~30 minutes.

  • Handle time: 1–2 hours.

  • Full cure: 14–21 days.

  • Washing with water or soap should be avoided for at least 14 days after spraying.

 


 

4. Cleanup

  • Use Acetone or Xylene to remove overspray from unwanted areas.

  • Dispose of rags safely by laying flat to dry before discarding.

  • Durable, UV-protected finish designed for high-heat and high-wear areas such as calipers, wheels, and suspension parts.

  • Heat resistance: 150°C (300°F).

  • Available finishes: matte (0–25 gloss), satin (35–50 gloss), gloss (80–100 gloss).
