Q: Do I need a primer before using Chassis Armor – 2K Aerosol?

✅ No primer is required! This product is designed to be applied direct-to-metal (DTM). It provides superior adhesion, extreme corrosion resistance, and a durable finish without an adhesion promoter.

Q: How many coats should I apply?

✅ We recommend 3 medium coats with ~5 minutes flash time between each coat. This ensures full coverage, maximum protection, and a uniform finish.

 

 

Before You Begin

🔴 Important Precautions:

  • Always wear a respirator, gloves, and appropriate protective equipment.

  • Shake the can vigorously for at least 2 minutes before use.

  • Ideal application temperature: 68°F (20°C) with 35–75% humidity.

  • Apply in a well-ventilated area, not in direct sunlight.

  • For best results in dry climates, lightly mist water in the air or use a humidifier.

 

 

Application Steps

1. Surface Preparation

  • Ensure metal or existing surface is clean and free of loose scale, rust, dirt, or grease.

  • Clean with a solvent cleaner.

  • For plastic parts, use a waterborne/plastic cleaner.

  • No primer needed – apply directly to metal.

 

 

2. Spray Application Instructions

  • Hold can 8–10 inches from the surface.

  • Apply 3 medium coats with ~5 minutes flash time between coats.

  • Maintain even spray overlap to avoid striping.

  • No clear coat needed.

  • After spraying, turn the can upside down and press nozzle until only clear gas comes out to clean the tip.

 

 

3. Drying and Curing

  • Out of dust: ~30 minutes.

  • Handle time: 1–2 hours.

  • Full cure: 14–21 days.

  • Minimal sanding and buffing can be done after 14 days if desired.

 

 

4. Cleanup

  • Use Acetone or Xylene to remove overspray from unwanted surfaces.

  • Dispose of rags and applicators safely by laying flat to dry before disposal to prevent spontaneous combustion.
