Prep The Surface

Prep The Surface

STEP 1

Before applying any of our Spray-On Clear Coat systems, thoroughly wash the surface using our Pre-Cleaner (included only in the Complete Kit) and a light gray scuff pad. This process helps remove dirt, grime, oxidation, and contaminants while also creating a mechanical adhesion for the clear coat to properly bond.

For additional surface prep, you may also lightly sand the surface using 600–800 grit sandpaper.

If the surface has failing, peeling, or flaking clear coat, use 600 grit sandpaper to feather the edges of the damaged clear coat to create a smooth and even transition into the surrounding surface.

Once prep is complete, thoroughly rinse the surface and allow it to dry completely before moving to the next step.

STEP 2

Once the surface is fully dry from the prep process, wipe the entire surface down using our Wax & Grease Remover to remove any remaining contaminants, oils, residue, sanding dust, or debris prior to coating.

Make sure all Wax & Grease Remover has completely flashed off and the surface is fully dry before moving on to the next step.

Apply Coats

Apply Coats

Step 5

Apply at least two medium wet coats for best overall finish and durability.

Allow approximately 15–20 minutes flash time between coats depending on temperature, airflow, and humidity conditions.

Avoid excessively heavy coats, as lighter even coats generally produce better overall finish consistency.

Step 6

Surfaces may be recoated for up to 12 hours after application.

After 12 hours, the surface must be lightly scuffed or sanded using 600–800 grit sandpaper before applying additional coats.

Proper surface preparation between coats is critical for long-term adhesion and finish quality.
