Troubleshooting Guide
Issue |
Cause |
Fix |
Imperfections or Uneven Coats |
Not enough product or uneven wipe. |
Lightly wet sand with 600-800 grit sandpaper, ensuring the surface is smooth and even—do not attempt to remove the clear coat. After sanding, wipe the surface with Wax & Grease Remover before applying the next coat. |
Runs or Sags |
Too much product applied at once. |
Wait 24 hours, wet sand with 600-800 grit sandpaper to even out the surface—do not attempt to remove the clear coat. Wipe down with Wax & Grease Remover before reapplying. |
Matte Clear Coat Too Shiny |
Product not shaken well before mixing. |
Shake the container thoroughly to ensure the matting agent is evenly distributed before use. The matting agent may have settled, resulting in a shinier finish. The sheen will reduce as the clear coat cures. For a quicker fix, lightly rub the surface with #0000 steel wool to create a matte finish. |
Chemical Wrinkling |
Applying to a single part paint. |
Spray application recommended. Avoid wiping over these coatings. |
