Wipe-On Gel Coat Directions
1. Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment. (Respirator Mask & Gloves recommended.) For best results use in a well ventilated area between 50° Fahrenheit and 77° Fahrenheit ambient and surface temperature..
2. Wash the surface with our Pre-Cleaner and water using a Light Duty Grey Scuff Pad removing as much loose scale, dirt, grit, and oxidation as possible. Rinse thoroughly. Let dry completely. Then with our Wax & Grease Remover wet one rag, then wipe on while drying with another clean dry rag before applying the gel coat.
3. Mix our required Gel Coat Catalyst at a mixing ratio of 8:1 to achieve chemical
resistance. (8 parts Gel Coat coat to 1 part Gel Coat Catalyst). Mixed product will have a two hour pot life at 77 degrees.
4. Blow off provided Applicator Pad before use to get rid of loose fibers.
5. After the surface is completely dry, with our Wipe-On Gel Coat wet a provided Applicator Pad in a paint tray for large areas. For small hard to get to areas, wet one of our Recycled Knit Rags and wipe on. DO NOT APPLY IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT. Always apply to a small inconspicuous area to test results before going over entire vehicle. Apply thinly and quickly to one panel at a time. Once the product has been applied do
not wipe over the same area again. If you have missed a spot or have an imperfection to
correct, allow 24 hours to cure before scuffing that area and re-applying.
6. Allow 20-30 minutes for dry to touch and 24 hours for full cure.
7. Use acetone or xylene to remove from unwanted surfaces.
8. Lay used rags and applicators out flat to dry properly before disposing of, to avoid any spontaneous combustion.
*Wiping our Gel Coat over spray paint or alkyd type coatings may cause chemical rewetting or wrinkling of the paint. Spray application is recommended over these types of coatings.*
